A Thousand miles journey start from a single step…….’’ This Proverb Strikes me when I picked up the pen to write about journey of Shakuntla School And College of Nursing. This single step on this 12years long path was taken in a single room of Shakuntla Hospital , sagarpur. An Institute for paramedical was started in 2010 and after that within a year , we were shifted in a rented building at Janak Cinema campus ,Janakpuri.

  In Year 2011, We got affiliation for more paramedical courses from NIMS University , Jaipur. Our Institute was fetching students in all courses from all zones of Delhi NCR as well as all other states. We were Successfully run institute approx 3 Years, Here came a big shift and our Chairman Sir Dr. Janak Raj Dhami decide to build a separate new institute building at Raghu Nagar, the construction was completed in 2014 thriugh his marvelous efforts and visionary leadership.

 In the Meantime,we had submitted a Proposal to Delhi Govt.NCT of Delhi for NOC/essential certificate to run nursing programme.We got shifted to new building in 2014 and continue running paramedical courses. This was the period of incubation and wait. But institute providing services in fall swing under the Dynamic leadership of Dr. Janak Raj Dhami, Dr.Dinesh Makkar, Dr. Bhupender Dhami and Dr.Varsha Sharma have been a constant source of inspiration through out.In between Mr.Satish Kumar Nirvan has joined the team as a Principal and his appreciable efforts finally, the moment came in 2016, We got NOC/Essesntial Certificate for ANM course with the intake of 20 student. After that tough inspection by the Delhi Nursing Council and Indian Nursing Council, we got permission from both councils and start ANM course in Oct 2016.

In the year 2017 we had submitted new proposal to Delhi Govt.NCT of Delhi for NOC/Essential Certificate for GNM Course and we got the same in 2018 with the intake of 20 students.

After two year, this was the time for us to crossed another milestone but that was “impossible” for our team because as per the guideline of Indian nursing council for B.Sc Nursing course is very tough, because we had no infrastructure as per the council. But “ Impossible” word is useless in the dictionary of the chairman sir.And his passion and dedication towards the education for society and mankind he purchased approx 4 acre land at Jaunti, New Delhi and start construction for our dream college. We had faced so many difficulties and obstacles but afterb crossing all the hurdles college campus come to existence in 2021 with all the faculties, latest lab equipment, play ground, advance class room ,transport facility and a big library. And again after all the successful inspection by the council we are running ANM, GNM and B.Sc Nursing course with the intake of 50 students in each courses.

Under the guidance of Dr. Janak Raj Dhami with the team Dr.Bhupender Dhami, Dr. Varsha Sharma, Mr.Satish Kumar Nirvan, All the Faculty member, Support Staff and including me will not stop here, we would continue to take futher steps to serve the society by the providing qualitative medical education. With your blessing the journey must go on…………………………
